I give up on the train system!!!

This morning we woke up at 5 am (after getting oh about 3 hours of sleep) to try to hit the black forest are and get some cuckoo clocks and see the amazing area. Well once we got to the train station and there was no one in sight, we didn’t even know what type of train ticket to buy and all we knew was the first train we had to get on. One girl noticed we were struggling and told us to get the Bavaria day pass which was good for all 4 of us for the day for only 34 Euro. On our first train to Wurzberg we figure out that we don’t think the black forest is in Bavaria and we don’t even know the next trains we need. When we get to Wurzberg at 6:45 am we go to the information desk to find a train itinerary to get there. We find out it’s going to be like 6 hours instead of 4 and that by the time we get there because of layovers we’d have to turn around and come back because we wanted to see how 4th of July is celebrated on base and see the fireworks. At this point we are pissed. We can never figure out the train schedule, no website has ever been of any help (they always lead us astray and get everything wrong) and there are never any travel/ticket agents that can help us before we need to get on a train to start our travels. We were all so mad that we just sat in the train station and ate some food. Of course I calmed my nerves with a chocolate croissant that was only a Euro. We decided to just make the most of the day that we could and just walk around Wurzberg even though we had no idea what to expect or what there was too see. We ended up having an awesome day and seeing a lot of cool buildings. We didn’t know what the buildings were or anything, but it was really cool to see the town and all it had there. If anyone has any fun facts about Wurzberg or about the pictures of the builds I took you should let me know haha. We went around and saw this awesome fortress and had lunch right on the river (even though it was expensive). Then we hit up some shops. I didn’t buy anything but some of the other girls came away with shoes that were only 10 Euros and scarves that were 1 Euro. Typical me though… the one thing I bought while we were out shopping was ice cream ( I am trying to get diabetes I think haha) and this time I had Cookie flavor. It was packing with chocolate and cookie bits and I was loving every bite of it so I didn’t even feel bad. Now we are all finally home (and feeling like we give up on trains… Anneke and I might go down there when someone is working and seriously book every weekend and get all the itineraries so that we never have this problem again) and just napping and later we will head to Kessler fields to check out the 4th of July celebration and the fireworks. I will have to update you on our 4th of July festivities tomorrow! =)
