Last night a few of the girls and
I headed to an Italian restaurant down the street (yes we ate Italian in
Germany haha) and it was very good. I had Gnocchi which is always one of my
favorites. What stinks was I couldn’t get a drink because you can’t consume any
within 12 hours of seeing children (and since I work at 7 am and we went to
dinner at 7:30 pm I couldn’t drink). I only say it is a bummer because the beer
is actually cheaper than the water. I am not joking my .3 L of Sprite was the same
price as a .5 L of beer and water was more expensive for a .3L. It’s actually
pretty ridiculous. Something crazy we found out that they do over here is they
mix Hef’s with either sprite or coke or lemonade. It’s actually really good. It
makes it taste sweeter and lighter (I feel like it’s definitely for a girls
tastes buds haha). My lead said I was able to try some of hers and that she
wouldn’t tell on me (thank god haha). I then had to try and go to bed while the
sun was still up (at 10 pm I might add you) to get to my first day of actually
being in ratio this morning.
This morning was pretty cool. We
get breakfast like right when we get there and then we just hang out with the
few kids that are there until "camp" starts. There are games and
stuff in the gym and then free time in the playhouse. Then we did some camp
songs. Until we get off at ten, we help out with the "camps" they do
and stuff. I helped out in the tech lab where they are making audio commercials
this week. Once we come back we have a large group activity (normally like big
group games and stuff) and then we will have the rotations. Also really
funny... when I got off I wanted to walk over to the other gym (the nice big
one unlike the small one I went to yesterday) but I felt like I got lost cuz I
ended up on some country road with no sidewalk and it started raining so I
chickened out... I asked the girls when I came back from my break and they said
yep it’s down that road but it’s like a 40 minute walk… soooo I’ll be going to
the small gym that is only a 15-20 minute walk. In the afternoon I actually
worked with the Kindergarteners today instead of having my own room like the
playhouse to open up during rotation. Man was it a mess!!!! I don’t know what
was with all the kids today but everyone was getting in trouble, having an
attitude, and being rowdy constantly. It was really really tough. We then also
left early from work because we were having a briefing from Sergeant Major
Gordon who is in charge of the Garrison. Apparently some guys in the hall were
talking inappropriately about us and another resident reported it so he wanted
to make sure he is keeping us safe.
What is really nice is I will go
to the PX today to write down everything I need and then give it to someone at
work and they will buy it for me and I will pay them back. They might let us do
that for the commissary too (which it the grocery store and the PX is like
target). I also did eventually hit the small gym after work and I plan on
having a nice quiet night in and not doing too much.
Sounds like the fun is finally starting with the kids!. Yes, today's generation is rougher than in the past. Its always ME, ME, and I want it NOW!
