Today was so tough. The kids
really like testing their limits and they still think that they don’t have to
listen to us. The directors of the center and the lead staff are really relying
on us but don’t brief us on rules or anything first so it’s hard to be consistent
and everything. The mornings are nice though because we eat breakfast, program,
sing some songs, and just assist with the programs that are already set up. Our
three hour break goes by WAY too fast and then our second half of the day just
goes WAY too slow. They all talk in your ear at once, fight at EVERYTHING you
say even if what you say will benefit them (like I feel like I could say I am
giving you all $100 and ice cream and they would still scream and cry about
it), and they just ignore you. It is really hard to get used to, but I am
learning how to be nice but firm with them. But overall it was a pretty good
day.
Then tonight we went to this café/hookah
bar where I tried a doner (kinda like a gyros or pita wrap made with lamb) and
a cola weizen (coke and beer). They were both really good. It was so beautiful
downtown and I got some really good pictures of the moon out and it was so big
in the sky. It was also really nice to hang out with the other girls working at
the SAC that we only see for like two hours a day. We then went and got ice
cream. I got Nutella ice cream! It literally had chunks of nutella in it and it
was only 80 cents! It was so nice. But I had to go to bed really quick because
we are trying to get to the black forest, have a bbq, and see fireworks all
tomorrow so we have ot be at the train station at 6 am!
